How to Add a Watermark to Your Photos in Lightroom

You want to quickly and easily find a watermarking solution for that brand new digital product you don’t want someone to steal. There are plenty of online watermarking options available as well as watermarking software installed on your computer if you have adobe lightroom

Lightroom is my favorite watermarking solution. You don’t need an internet connection. It’s great for batch watermarking large amounts of images. You can also create water marketing templates that adds text or a company logo. Then you can add custom watermarks as watermark templates

Adding a watermark in your pictures is a way to put your unique signature and prevent people from stealing your hard work. It lets people know that you are the one who created them.

Watermarks will not entirely prevent plagiarism, but they can promote your work. Think of watermarked images as a way of saying “I made this image!”

Asides from using free Instagram presets, it is also easy and quick to add a watermark using Lightroom because you can apply watermarks to many images in batches. This will save you a considerable amount of time.

Lightroom lets you create two kinds of watermarks: text and graphic. Text is the perfect way to add information like your name or copyright symbols. You can use any font on your computer for your text watermark. Graphics lets you add a logo or any image to your picture. The best image format to use is a PNG file with a transparent background.

Here are the easy steps to creating your own watermark for your images in Lightroom (if you want to know how to use my free Lightroom presets, we have another tutorial here!).

Keep in mind that you only apply the watermark to your pictures when you export or publish your pictures online. Inside Lightroom, you won’t see your watermark on your pictures. Also, you can look into Lightroom Modules that let you use watermarks while in those modules.

1. Open Lightroom’s Edit Watermarks Dialog Box

Select “Edit Watermarks” from the Edit menu if you are on a PC.

Select “Edit Watermarks” from the Lightroom app if you are on a Mac

2. Select Your Watermark

In the top-right corner of the Watermark Editor, select either a text watermark or a graphic watermark.

3. Check Out the Options for Your Watermark

To change how the watermark looks, look at the choices in the Options menu to the right of the Watermark Editor. Font and drop shadow options are available for a text watermark. There are also options for text and graphic watermarks to change the opacity and watermark position.

Experiment with all the options to learn what they do!

4. Save Your Watermark in Lightroom

Once you complete your watermark, press the “Save” button and name your watermark. It will be available during export and in any Lightroom module.

You can create many watermarks for various uses if you desire. Simply invest a few minutes creating your watermark. You can then apply it to a batch of photos in just one click during export.

If you are looking for something different to do with your images in Lightroom, check out our free Instagram presets and learn more about how to use them here. When you purchase a pack of Lightroom presets, as a bonus, you can learn more about other workflow optimization presets, such as web resizing.
