1.) Am I spending 5+ hours every week on social media alone?

When is the last time you counted how much of your week revolves around social media? How many times do you check in throughout the day?

Most of us check into social media hourly, making it a huge threat to our productivity. When you’re more focused on what’s happening on social media than what you need to work on your business, it makes it hard to focus on creating your products or services.

If you spend over 5 hours on social media every week, it might be time to call in reinforcements. A social media manager will not only save you hours of work, but they’ll also help you clarify your marketing messaging to sell more of your offerings.

2.) Do I even have a social media strategy?

If you are posting just to post because that’s what you think you should do but your post has no post or plan you are just sabotaging yourself and your social media.

If you’re posting on any social media platform without knowing what you’re using it for, you’ll want to take a step back before publishing your next post.

It’s important to define what role each social media platform plays in your marketing strategy and how it will help you accomplish specific business goals.

Otherwise you’ll feel like you’re constantly wasting effort anyway, whether you outsource your social media management or not. And we don’t want that!

3.) Are social media scheduling tools just not cutting it?

Maybe you’ve already tried to alleviate some of your stress by using social media scheduling tools. Some of our favorites include Buffer, Planoly, MeetEdgar, and CoSchedule, to name a few.

There’s only so much that social media scheduling can do. Sure, many of the tools can automatically post to your accounts for you (except on Instagram, ugh), but you still have to spend the time to set it all up.

If you’ve used social media scheduling tools for over three months and it still adds stress to your workflow, you may want to think about hiring a social media manager.

If you’re not ready to jump right in with a social media manager, see if they can work on one social media platform. If it goes well, you can always have them take over the others. Baby steps!

4.) Are customer questions and comments going unanswered?

You could be missing out on potential sales and clients if you don’t have the time to engage with your audience. As you grow your social media influence, it’s natural to start feeling like you’re outgrowing what you can handle.

Also and most importantly most social media networks now are measuring how fast your return comments and replies in their algorithm. So if you want to show up you have to hit reply within an hr for the most part.

This is when it helps to take on some extra help. While you may want to continue creating your own content, would it help to have a social media manager to interact with customers on your behalf?

If reading that question made you sigh with relief, it may be time to hire someone to help. Start making a list of how you normally reply to requests you get on social media and the kinds of conversations you participate in most.

You’ll want to make sure the social media manager can speak in your brand language so it doesn’t sound like a different voice than yours. It may take a little bit more time to get them trained on, but it’ll save you so much time in the future. Trust us!
